Ingredients:
1 cup Jasmine rice
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
3 whole cloves
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 bay leaf
1 cinnamon stick (2 inches, broken up)
2 cardomom pods
Steps:
1. Warm the vegetable oil in a pot on low heat. Add the cloves, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon stick pieces, and cardomom pods (crush first). Saute spice 3-4 minutes.
2. Add rice and saute 2-3 minutes until coated in oil and spices. Then add 1.5 cups water, stir, and cover. Cook on low heat for 15 minutes*.
3. Remove from heat and let cool with lid on for 5-10 minutes. Fluff before serving.
*Check package cooking directions and modify water amount and cooking time as needed.
